Check out my latest interview David Carradine in Spike TV's KUNG FU KILLER. Love him or hate him, Carradine has had a tremendous impact on the popularization of kung fu in America. Now he's back with a new movie mini-series and I couldn't resist the opportunity to talk to him. As the summer movie rush winds down, you'll find three reviews by our resident columnist, Dr. Craig Reid. Read MUMMY 3: Tom Boy Yeoh Meets Tomb Boy Li, THE DARK KNIGHT: Christian Bales Out Batman, and HELLBOY II vs. Jet Li? to see how martial arts continues to impact Hollywood. Also, our longtime e-zine contributor Chen PengCheng is keeping it real with Interview with White Crane Master YingHan Su. This article is twice as long as our usual pieces, so we hope you enjoy it.

Enter for your chance to win an autographed edition of THE ART OF LEARNING by Chessmaster and Tai Chi Push Hands champion Josh Waitzkin now available in paperback. This contest is courtesy of the Josh Waitzkin Foundation. Contest ends on 6:00 p.m. PST on 9/15/08. Good luck everyone!

Last Memorial Day Weekend, the Tiger Claw Foundation, our non-profit branch, produced Martial Arts Benefit for Quake Victims, a Live Performance of Martial Arts Mastery To Benefit Earthquake Victims in Sichuan, China. The Martial Arts Benefit for Quake Victims DVD is now available, proceeds of which will be donated to our ongoing fund to aid victims of the Sichuan quake. For more information on how you can help, visit our official website for the latest updates on the many ways you can support our efforts to provide relief to the victims of this horrible disaster. Jackie Chan Find's His Disciple! :D
Friday, August 01, 2008 by Christa Quinn
Hello, my Friends; Well, as Marlin and Dory so eloquently put it (with my editorial work) in "Finding Nemo": "He did it! He did it! Oh, yeah yeah yeah! He made it to the top! Wooo...! ...Made it to the top! He really made it to the top! He's the Disciple!" LOL Jack Tu is officially the winner of "Jackie Chan's Disciples"! I swear, if I ever bothered to bet some real money on this guy, I'd make a fortune! I knew that kid was good the first time I saw him! http://www.myspace.com/jacktu Check this out if you want proof: http://long.btv.com.cn/long/index.htm http://ent.qq.com/a/20080727/000085.htm http://www.kungfucinema.com/?p=2575 http://www.openv.com/play/BTV2prog_20080728_6411969_0.html The sixteen finalists were all given contracts to work as members of his stunt team, and Jack Tu was awarded the top position. As the winner, he will be be trained by Jackie Chan personally, and will be guaranteed to star in at least three Chinese films. The top three finalists will all be given the opportunity to direct a film of their own featuring members of Jackie Chan's Stunt Team. Jaiyo and have a fantastic day! In the last update, I predicted Dr. Craig Reid would take over our e-zine because there's been an unprecedented amount of martial arts influenced films coming out this summer rush. But we were saved by our old friend, longtime contributor, Chen PengCheng, who submitted the insightful Interview with White Crane Master YingHan Su. This article is twice as long as our usual pieces, so we hope you enjoy it. Even though Dr. Reid didn't take over, he still has the four other articles on our home page now. The latest one is GET SMART: Don't Miss It by That Much. The three others are THE FOOT FIST WAY: Martial Art Truth, Parody, or a Slap in the Face, KUNG FU PANDA: Big Bear Cat was "PO-fect" & MONGOL: An Evolution to Reality.

Enter for your chance to win Invisible Target, courtesy of the good people at Dragon Dynasty. Five lucky winners will receive this just released DVD starring Nicholas Tse, Wu Jing and Jaycee Chan. Contest ends on 6:00 p.m. PST on 6/24/08. Good luck everyone.

Our martial movie watcher, Dr. Craig Reid, has two review of recent releases. The most recent has had a lot of media coverage because of the popularity of MMA. Read NEVER BACK DOWN - MMA Meets KARATE KID. Also just opened is the latest from Stephen Chow, the maverick filmmaker who brought us Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. This is a family film, not a conventional kung fu film, but when has Chow been conventional? Get a sneak peek in Stephen Chow's CJ7: Struck by Spielberg-itis, exclusive on KungFuMagazine.com.

2008 marks the year of the earth rat. Check out David Wei's new e-zine article Chinese New Year in China for an insider's taste of the new year's festivities behind the bamboo curtain. Also, see what's in store for you in our Kung Fu Horoscopes section. Our Chinese horoscopes have been a favorite feature since 2001. You'll also find another films reviewed by Dr. Craig Reid, IN THE NAME OF THE KING: TAI CHI MASTER Meets Fire Dragon?, a new film choreographed by veteran kung fu film director, Tony Ching Siu-tung. Plus there's The Old Wolf and the Young Wolf by long-time contributor Anthony Graceffo.

You could win a full-size lobby standee for the upcoming film Forbidden Kingdom, starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Tiger Claw is doing a very special promotion for this historic film at four tournaments in March and April. Free posters will be available at the Tiger Claw Booth, where you can enter to win one of the lobby standees that will be on display at the event. These are the huge professional 12 x 8 x 2' standees that are usually reserved for major cineplex lobbies (fortunately they break down and can be folded up). One standee will be given away to a lucky winner at each of the following events:

American Open 2008, March 8th, at Cal State University, East Bay, Hayward, CA

2008 Santa Cruz Open, April 5th, at Aptos High School, Aptos, CA

16th Annual UC Berkeley Chinese Martial Arts Tournament, April 5th, Haas Pavilion on the UC Berkeley Campus, Berkeley, CA

Golden Gate Internationals, April 18th, at the Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara, CA
